Pittsburgh, PA (SpeculatingStocks) - Is it just us, or has cyber security seemed like the most important, yet underestimated threat facing the world today? Still no one takes cyber security 100% seriously yet because there hasn't been that earth-shattering event that makes everyone realize its importance. Alarmists have been prognosticating a cyber security event of massive magnitude for quite a few years, and the odds go up every year of one happening.

Who will defend the United States against cyber security threats from China and Russia? The answer is the great companies that understand cyber security. These are the companies whose sole focus is on cyber security. Cyber security is one of the most advanced topics in computing, requiring the utmost attention to detail, and not just understanding how to program and administrate systems such as Linux, but to take the knowledge a step further and build it all securely.

The above is why public companies with a cyber security focus should be valued much more highly. It is hard to build a company with such understanding of computing and network security that these companies have. Who are some of the names in cyber security?

1) Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NYSE:PANW), a $17B company.

2) Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:CHKP), a $17B company.

3) Fortinet, Inc. (NASDAQ:FTNT), a $13B company.

4) Zscaler Inc. (NASDAQ:ZS), a $4.9B company.

5) FireEye, Inc. (NASDAQ:FEYE), a $3.8B company.

6) Cyber-Ark Software Ltd. (NASDAQ:CYBR), a $2.5B company.

7) OneSpan, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSPN), a $670M company.

8) CYREN Ltd. (NASDAQ:CYRN), a $172M company.

9) Finjan Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:FNJN), a $102M company.

What do these companies all have in common other than being cyber security-related? They're all at a beautiful place in their chart for gains to be had for investors. These stocks are the hold type of plays that will pop higher when the time is right and even the possibility of beginning a multi-month uptrend into 2019 and through the year. They're not overvalued right now, but you can be sure the smart money on Wall Street is accumulating these cyber security names.
