Pittsburgh, PA (SpeculatingStocks) - Twitter, Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) may have finally found something to hang their hat on and win both investors and cable cord cutters over. It started with livestreaming Thursday Night NFL games, which was a decent success, and livestreaming of Academy Award shows and the Grammy red carpet doesn't hurt. These are events that cord cutters want to watch, but don't want to pay for, so they can now just stop on Twitter to watch the live stream. Even though TWTR lost the NFL deal to Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), non-sports events have proven quite popular on Twitter anyways.

Twitter wants to be known as the dependable place for people to go to see what's happening. This is such a smart strategy as cord cutters want to watch events, but not pay for a cable bundle at $100 or more a month. Not only will they get views, but also while watching the Twitter users will talk about the events. Twitter is carving out its niche and a strong one at that.

Of course, it costs money for the licenses to stream the content, but as more and more people cut the cord, they will turn to Twitter as the dependable place to watch events for free. This is some serious vision by TWTR CEO Jack Dorsey that investors have been waiting to see. This will end up being a milestone event for Twitter that defines their future.
